The Roomy Fuel-Efficient 2014 Toyota Sienna

The new 2014 Toyota Sienna is one to celebrate for both its fuel-efficiency and its ability to hold several seats without making the hybrid model look clunky or over sized. We at Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy are proud to be a part of the Toyota brand, and the Sienna is an example of why.

Efficiency of the 2014 Toyota Sienna

The 2014 Sienna features more equipment than the previous models. The star of the show, though, is the 3.5-liter V6, fuel-efficient engine with 266 horsepower. There is the option of four-wheel drive, as well.

Can you achieve efficiency in a hybrid minivan? Yes, you can with the 2014 Sienna. Toyota switches out the four-cylinder engine used in the previous models for the six-cylinder to improve fuel economy. In comparison to its competitors in the minivan market, fuel-economy is more attainable.

Seating in the Sienna

The new Sienna has plenty of seating, making it is a very family-friendly vehicle. There is a second row of seats and stowable third row of seats. The sleek minivan comfortably seats up to eight people.

The LE version is a popular one. It has three-zone air conditioning so that your entire family stays cool as you head off on a road trip. Individual temperature controls keep the driver and front and rear passengers happy. The driver also receives a Blind Spot Monitor, a valuable safety feature, in the LE model. It is an individual option for the SE and XLE versions.

The 2014 Toyota Sienna has many outstanding features to embrace. Here at Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy we are proud to carry a variety of new and used Toyota cars in a host of colors.

We also provide affordable repair services for your Toyota vehicle.

Feel free to call us or come down in person to visit our Troy dealership. We’ll show you how we can optimize your driving experience.

The Redesigned 2014 Sequoia—What We Know So Far

At Suburban Toyota of Troy, we know how you feel. We are waiting for the 2014 Sequoia as impatiently as you are. But, we can give you a sneak peek into the redesigned Sequoia, at least what we can tell you so far. Whet your appetite here.

Tough, Rugged Good-Looks

The big guys at Toyota have shared a few insider details about the popular large sized SUV with your friends at Suburban Toyota, and our dealership is all a twitter about what we’ve heard. One thing that will not change is the tough looking exterior that we all love. Toyota products, particularly the large SUVs and trucks, have a really bold and robust exterior design and that is absolutely sacred. While some things will be tweaked, that tough looking Toyota style and exciting design will remain, along with its superior off-road capabilities.

Exterior Features

The 2014 Sequoia will, thankfully, still look a lot like the preceding year’s model. The rugged wipers, sturdy roof rack, A-pillars, and aerodynamically designed mirrors stay right where they are. However, the grille and brand logo have increased in dimension to meet the beefy proportions of the vehicle. The headlamps snug up and attach at the grille frame’s edges.

Interior Features

The interior, which seats eight, of the 2014 Sequoia is redesigned to spoil you rotten. The interior cabin space seems, and is, roomier and even more luxurious, with all the bells and whistles – many of them standard. The seats will be adjustable to allow for more or less space as needed. Two wireless headphones come with the new model, along with a 9-inch LCD screen, touch screen DVD, navigation, Laser Cruise Control, and an incredible Blu-ray entertainment system. Have you seen that before? We haven’t!

The Heart of the 2014 Sequoia

The heart and soul of all Toyotas are the powerful engines. In the new Sequoia, you’ll find a hefty 5.7-liter V8 under the hood. That’s an upgrade, friends. The engine will have dual-independent VVT-I for fine tuned timing, optimized performance and fuel economy. With the Acoustic Control Induction System in place, the torque curve will be optimized for an improved towing capacity, too. The transmission will be a six-speed automatic that pairs well with the beefy engine improvement.

2014 Toyota Venza Boasts Style Cabin Space Improvements

If you’re searching for a mid-size crossover sedan that combines power and creature comforts with an aesthetically appealing appearance, look no further than the 2014 Toyota Venza. With room to comfortably seat five passengers, the Venza—which will soon be available at Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy—is a modern twist on the traditional station wagon and offers the perfect blend of fashion and function.

All-wheel or four-wheel drive

2013 Toyota Venza

The Toyota Venza has undergone a series of changes and received numerous improvements since it was initially introduced in 2009, and the past year is no exception. Drivers in the market for a 2014 model can choose from three trim levels—the LE, XLE and Limited—all of which are available as all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive vehicles.

Engine options include a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of producing 268 horsepower and 246 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that can deliver 182 horsepower and 182 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2014 Venza has earned a fuel efficiency rating of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

Styling and new colors

Perhaps the most notable changes to the revamped 2014 Toyota Venza have been made to the vehicle’s exterior, which will be available in at least two new colors: Cypress Gem and Cosmic Black Mica. A redesigned grille and fog lights, along with a new front fascia, 19-inch alloy wheels and restyled taillights mark some of the biggest differences between the exterior of latest model of the Toyota Venza and its predecessor.

More cargo space

2013 Toyota Venza Cabin Space

The interior of the Venza has also undergone several changes that drivers and passengers alike will benefit from. The spacious cabin with room for five people now boasts even more cargo space behind a second row of seating, thanks to a rear seat that reclines up to 14 degrees, and thanks to the vehicle’s 60/40 split rear seats that fold flat to accommodate large or lengthy items.

Whether you’re ready to purchase a 2014 Toyota Venza and drive it directly off the lot or you simply want to take one for a test drive and discover all of the vehicle’s new features up close and personal, our staff at Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy is available to answer all of your questions and assist you with all your car-buying needs.

Stay Cool during Summer Road Trips with Regular Air Conditioner Maintenance

Toyota AC car Service

By the time summer rolls around, the weather starts to heat up and so does the inside of your car. In fact, temperatures in Troy can reach well over 80 degrees Fahrenheit between June and August! There’s nothing like turning the air conditioner on during a smoldering afternoon on your way home from work, but if you haven’t kept your air conditioner properly maintained, you may not get the cool relief you were seeking.

A/C maintenance

Here are few tips in maintaining your car’s air conditioner from Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy. While a newer model may fare better between scheduled maintenance, the A/C on your older model can easily get overworked and fail completely. Before you end up with a bigger, expensive problem, bring your car in to Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy and let one of our technicians take a look.

First, our technicians will check to see if the pressure in your system is too low. If it is low, we will bring it up to manufacturer suggested levels and using a special thermometer, we will run the A/C on the highest setting to ensure your system is now giving the desired output. If the output isn’t correct, we will check for a leak next and examine the components of your system such as the compressor. Once we locate the problem, we will have your A/C up and running in no time.

Proper A/C use

Here at Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy, our tips in maintaining your air conditioner are more effective if we also provide you with tips on the best way to use the A/C.

  • Filters need to be changed regularly because dust, pollen and smoke will make it dirty.
  • If temperatures are hotter outside than inside the car, try using re-circulated air to stay cool. On the other hand, if the temperature inside your car is hotter than outside, set your A/C dial so you are pulling air from outside.
  • Park under a tree or put a sunshade in the windshield to keep the inside of a parked car cooler.
  • During winter, run the A/C a few minutes once a month to keep the compressor and seals lubricated.

The Toyota Me.We Electric Concept Car is liberating

Toyota concept car

We here at Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy are very excited about the new Toyota ME.WE electric concept car. Try not to get too excited, though — it’s just a concept … for now.

The Me.We concept

The Me.We concept was born of the collaboration between Toyota’s European design team and noted architect and industrial designer Jean-Marie Massaud. Car and Driver quotes Massaud describing the concept’s raison d’être like this: “By losing sight of reality and as a result of an idealized approach, the car has become an accumulation of constraints more than a source of freedom. However, our lives and needs require more adaptability, simplicity, and lightness.”

Toyota’s elegant version of the Me.We concept is that the next generation of drivers will value “better” over “more.”

Designed for adaptability, simplicity and lightness

The Me.We is a synthesis of design innovation that is all about freedom from waste and consumption.

Polypropylene panels that are lightweight and 100 percent recyclable are attached to an aluminum-tube structure for a boxy, retro-yet-modernistic look. Its under-floor battery layout, electric power train and wheel-hub motors, which offer the option of two- or four-wheel drive, provide efficiency in energy consumption and space so that the interior is surprisingly roomy.

The Me.We makes the most of its 134.5-inch length, 68.9-inch width and 63-inches height with rear bench seats that can be stored under the front bench seat or removed altogether and the back door folded down for extra storage space. More storage space rides on the roof under a foldout neoprene cover.

The simplicity of the interior is liberating. The instrumentation consists of a single display for driver information, including navigation instructions provided via smartphone. The airy interior can be made even more airy with windows and even a windshield that all drop.

Bamboo flooring is a renewable material that is both aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean. The guys at TopGear think it “looks a little bit brilliant, which is nice.” In fact, they find the whole concept, despite the name, “quite cool.” Green Car Reports thinks so, too, declaring the Me.We “Green From The Wheels Up.”

Intrigued? Come by Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy in the Troy Motor Mall to find out the latest about the Toyota ME.WE electric concept car, and find out just how excited we are about Toyota’s dedication to green technology.

Toyota’s goal: Zero Traffic Fatalities

Toyota Driveless cars

Here at Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy, safety is one of the top reasons we specialize in Toyota vehicles. We are seriously impressed with Toyota’s commitment to manufacture safer vehicles, and after learning about their Integrated Safety Management Concept, we think you will be too. Since they introduced this program back in 2006, their stated goal has been no joke, to someday eliminate all injuries and fatalities caused by traffic accidents. All injuries and fatalities.

Impossible? Well… maybe not.

Take a look at just a few of the concepts Toyota is working on to make driving safer for you and your loved ones:

  • Intelligent Clearance Sonar: When backing in or pulling out of a parking space, a sonar signal detects when you are about to collide with something, like a wall or another car, and hits the brakes.
  • Drive-Start Control: This system monitors your shifting patterns, and is able to prevent you from accidentally shifting into reverse and accelerating when you meant to shift into drive.
  • Pre-Collision System: The system uses millimeter-wave radar to detect the likelihood of a collision. If detected, an alarm is sounded, and when you step on the brake, your vehicle doubles the deceleration to mitigate or even avoid a collision.
  • Night View System with Pedestrian Detection Function: A near-infrared camera displays everything up to 330 feet ahead of you. The system recognizes pedestrians and even highlights them on your view screen in flashing yellow so you know they’re coming.

Click here to learn more about Toyota’s ongoing commitment to safety, and even watch some videos of these concepts in action.

We know you value safety. Suburban Toyota Scion of Troy does too. Come find us at 1821 Maplelawn Drive in Troy, or give us a call at 888-711-1560 to discuss the safety features of our models.
